hunter college elementary school partnership
The Diller-Quaile School of Music and Hunter College Elementary School (HCES) are excited to have launched a customized music partnership during the 2018-2019 school year. HCES 4th and 5th grade students walk to Diller-Quaile for weekly group instrument instruction in strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion. HCES 5th graders also participate in ensemble rehearsals on their instruments at Diller-Quaile.
Diller-Quaile’s HCES instrument curriculum provides beginner and early intermediate students with a sequenced learning experience that develops technical skill as a foundation for expressive performance. The School’s approach tailors instruction to each student, with a long-term emphasis on building confident performance, fluent music reading, and skillful ensemble participation.
In addition, HCES 4th and 5th grade students have opportunities to participate in a range of after-school offerings at Diller-Quaile, including Dalcroze Eurhythmics courses, Chorus, String Festivals, and monthly Playing Parties, and they are invited to attend faculty concerts at Diller-Quaile with their families.
Students, teachers, and school leadership are looking forward to the students’ performances at Diller-Quaile and Hunter College Elementary School this year and towards the continued expansion and development of our creative partnership.
