INSTRUMENTAL AND VOCAL DEPARTMENT - Accompanist, Piano

Douglas Lima has been a pianist/accompanist from a very early age, accompanying his older brothers from about age nine. Mr. Lima added composing, songwriting and arranging while in his teens.

The pianist played hundreds of gigs with the Musicians' Union during the 1970s, serving as a substitute keyboard player throughout Southern California in jazz bands, fusion, bands, swing bands, pop, rock, country western, avant-garde bands, etc., gaining a reputation as a reliable, last-minute replacement.

In the early 1980s Mr. Lima attended the university of California at Irvine, studying under the guidance of Nina Scolnik, and receiving his BM in piano performance. Moving to New York City in 1983, the pianist attended the Manhattan School of Music, earning his Master's degree, also in piano performance.

Douglas Lima has performed in every sort of capacity normally associated with the piano, and in every sort of venue (though no stadium appearances). He has performed from coast-to-coast in the US, as well as Eastern and Western Europe.

In the late 1980s Mr. Lima began as association with The Diller-Quaile School of Music as an accompanist, and is proud to have worked with countless fine young musicians, as well as with many talented and inspirational teachers.
