Eri Yamamoto

EARLY CHILDHOOD DEPARTMENT - ACCOMPANIST

Since moving to the United States in 1995 from her native Japan, Eri Yamamoto has established herself as an original and compelling jazz pianist and composer. She has released fifteen albums under her own name, and has appeared in concerts and major jazz festivals in the U.S., Canada, England, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Portugal, France, Germany, Poland, Holland, Norway, Tunisia, South Africa, Australia, Jamaica and Japan. Eri earned a B.F.A and M.A. in Music Education at Shiga University in Japan. She also holds a B.F.A. in Jazz Piano Performance from The New School University in NYC. In 2018, Eri received the Distinguished Artist Award from the Shiga prefecture in Japan. In 2021, she was awarded the Artist Achievement Award by Otsu, Japan. In 2023, her music video “A Woman With a Purple Wig” won first prize at the prestigious Big Apple Film Festival. She has been a Steinway Artist since 2014.
