Summer Art Studio
(2-6 Years)

Kandinsky’s Colors & Chords

Can you hear a color? Can you see a sound? In this 45-minute standalone session, we step into the vibrant, abstract world of Wassily Kandinsky. Known for his deep connection to music, Kandinsky believed that colors and shapes had their own unique "voices."

In this art-focused class, young artists will explore how to "paint what they hear." As a professional pianist improvises live music, children will translate the rhythm, tempo, and mood into bold lines, geometric shapes, and a symphony of colors. Children will discover the magical intersection where music meets the canvas, resulting in a unique masterpiece of sight and sound.

Pollock’s Action Painting

Experience the thrill of "action painting" in this art focused 45-minute standalone session. Inspired by Jackson Pollock, this class invites young artists to move beyond the easel and use their whole bodies to drip, splash, and splatter paint across large-scale canvases.

Children will explore the connection between movement and ark-making, first with a dry project inspired by Pollocks works, then experiencing his classic drip paintings.  This multi-sensory experience celebrates spontaneous creativity and the joy of the process.

Mondrian’s Rhythms

Discover the beauty of balance, lines, and primary colors! In this 45-minute standalone session, we explore the iconic world of Piet Mondrian. Known for his love of jazz and his "grid" style, Mondrian showed us how a few simple lines and colors can create a world of energy and rhythm.

In this art-focused class, young artists will use tape, brushes, and bold primary palettes to build their own abstract compositions. As a professional pianist improvises steady, rhythmic jazz and "boogie-woogie" beats, children will learn how to organize their canvas into a symphony of squares and rectangles. Children will enjoy the satisfying process of creating order and vibrant patterns through art and sound.
